With 31 Delegates from The Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and The Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL Thailand)   Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tawiwan Kangsadan, TGGS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Quality Management was nominated by ASAIHL Thailand as Thailand’s representative to present the country report at ASAIHL International Conference 2022 –“The Conference on Bridges for Science and Education” in Poland on September 26-27, 2022. The country report focused on “Extensive Joint Collaborations with International Universities for Development of Industrial-Oriented Engineering Education Model and Best Practice in Thailand” This is because the international collaboration is the key mechanism to reform education and to boost the reputation and recognition of Thai universities in the global community. Many international collaborations with renowned universities around the world are developed and strengthened in Thailand. To achieve Thailand 4.0 goals and Hi-value and Sustainable Thailand together with Digital Economy, a  suitable engineering education and practice model must be evaluated for the development in the capacity building of engineering professions. In this preliminary report, the international collaborations in both undergraduate and graduate engineering study programs between Thai and foreign universities are summarized. With the effort to determine the suitable engineering education model and the best practice, the correlation between the engineering education, the university rankings and the country’s economy are briefly studied.

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tawiwan Kangsadan also represented King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) in the International Academic Network Collaborations Program 2022 (IANCOP 2022) and visited leading universities in Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Finland from September 23 to October 2, 2022 along with other 30 delegates from the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL Thailand). In addition to participating in the ASAIHL International Conference 2022, the purpose of this visit is to (1) establish the network for Thailand’s leading higher education institutions in Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Finland (Baltic Region of Europe); (2) enhance Thai higher education institutions’ adaptability for global changes that are driving forces affecting the competitiveness at the global level; and (3) promote internationalization of Thai higher education institutions. Open discussions were held with University of Warsaw in Poland (UW), Riga Technical University in Latvia (RTU), Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia (TalTech) and Tallinn University in Estonia (TLU) on cooperation with activities such as students/faculties/researchers/staff exchanges, joint academic program and research, possible of dual/double degree. The delegates also visited Business Finland, a government organization that supports companies in Finland for exporting their businesses internationally and in which Finnish universities are also involved. The possibility of cooperation with Thai higher education institutions were discussed. The drafting and signing of a MoU between RTU and KMUTNB, hosted by TGGS,  will be the first outcome of this visit.
