TGGS Undergraduate Students Enhance Industry Insights with Study Visits to TMEC and BYD Auto Thailand

October 7, 2026 — The Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS), King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), organized an exclusive academic study visit for undergraduate students majoring in Microelectronics Design and Semiconductor Engineering and Electric Vehicle and Automation Engineering. The excursion offered students direct exposure to cutting-edge research facilities and advanced industrial manufacturing ecosystems in Thailand.

Exploring Advanced Semiconductor Fabrication at Thai Microelectronics Center (TMEC)

The journey commenced in the morning with a technical visit to the Thai Microelectronics Center (TMEC).

During the visit, students gained firsthand insights into:

  • Cleanroom Operations & Wafer Processing: Observing specialized cleanroom environments, photolithography, and micro-fabrication workflows essential for semiconductor device development.

  • Sensor & MEMS Technology: Learning about domestic research and development in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), advanced sensors, and semiconductor packaging.

  • Bridging Theory to Practice: Engaging in technical discussions with research engineers, allowing Microelectronics Design students to connect lecture-room theory directly to tangible fabrication processes.

Witnessing Next-Gen Automotive Manufacturing at BYD Auto (Thailand)

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Assembly Factory (Thailand) Division 11, BYD Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a premier manufacturing hub for the global electric vehicle industry.

Key highlights of the factory tour included:

  • Automated Assembly Lines: Observing modern vehicle assembly, industrial robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and smart automation workflows in real time.

  • Electric Vehicle Integration: Gaining comprehensive knowledge regarding EV powertrain integration, battery pack installations, and stringent quality control protocols.

  • Industrial Synergy: Providing Electric Vehicle and Automation Engineering students with a clear perspective on international engineering standards and future career opportunities within Thailand’s thriving EV corridor.

This dual-site visit underscores TGGS’s commitment to industry-oriented German-style engineering education, bridging rigorous academic curricula with high-demand tech sectors to cultivate future-ready engineers.
