NUAA and KMUTNB Strengthen Sino-Thai Collaboration through Joint Laboratory Launch and Academic Exchange
NANJING, China — July 9–10, 2026 — Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) welcomed a delegation from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), including representatives of the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS), for a two-day programme of academic exchange, research discussion, and strategic cooperation.
The visit marked the opening of the Sino-Thai International Joint Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing at NUAA, strengthening the institutions’ shared commitment to advancing Sino-Thai collaboration in engineering education, research, and innovation.
On July 9, NUAA and KMUTNB/TGGS co-hosted the 2026 Sino-Thai International Symposium on Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration in Advanced Manufacturing at NUAA’s Minggugong Campus. The programme included opening remarks by Prof. Fu Yucan, Dean of NUAA’s College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nisai Fuengwarodsakul, Dean of TGGS.
The symposium featured academic presentations by scholars from both institutions on topics including incremental sheet forming, ultra-precision machining of complex optical components, residual stress and thermal-spray coatings, 5G and beyond networks, wide-bandgap semiconductors, thermocapillary migration, sub-nanosecond pulsed lasers, and data integration. The programme concluded with an industry-academia-research exchange session, creating opportunities for participants to discuss research directions and potential collaboration.
On July 10, the two universities held a bilateral meeting at NUAA’s Jiangjunlu Campus to review current cooperation and discuss future initiatives. Key areas included NUAA’s Elite Engineer programme, summer-school opportunities, faculty and student exchanges, and expanded research collaboration.
The visit also enabled meaningful academic exchanges among faculty members from TGGS, KMUTNB, and NUAA. Through lectures, discussions, and networking activities, participants shared expertise and explored opportunities for joint research and educational development.
NUAA and KMUTNB look forward to building on this momentum through the Sino-Thai joint laboratory and future collaborative activities that support talent development, high-quality research, and stronger international partnerships in advanced manufacturing and related engineering fields.
