Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peerawatt Nunthavarawong of TGGS was appointed by the DVS – German Welding Society as a local organizing member for the prestigious Thermal Spray Conference and Exposition (ITSC 2026), held in Bangkok from March 18–20, 2026. In this role, he contributed to supporting the organization of the event and strengthening international collaboration. He was invited to deliver an official welcome message to participants and to author a chapter introducing his research laboratory, which was published in the highly regarded Thermal Spray Bulletin Magazine by DVS. He was also serving as the Session Chair for both Industrial Forum II and Cold GAS Spraying IV.

ITSC 2026 featured a comprehensive technical program with more than 250 papers spanning the entire supply chain—from fundamental materials science to advanced industrial applications across aviation, aerospace, energy, maritime, and automotive sectors. The exposition once again served as a global hub for the thermal spray community, bringing together over 70 companies, including leading equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, and service providers across the globe.

His research group was well represented at the conference, with two Ph.D. students, Mr. Sarun Choomchaiyo and Mr. Muhammad Tahir Farooq, and a master’s student, Mr. Somprasong Ruannut, delivering oral presentations. This achievement highlights the laboratory’s strength and international recognition. Notably, Mr. Farooq was honored with the Best Paper Award, with his research selected as one of only six outstanding papers from more than 220 submissions—a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the high quality and impact of the group’s work.

On behalf of TGGS, we are very proud of his research group and deeply appreciate his dedication, leadership, and continued commitment to excellence in research and international collaboration.
