TGGS Hosts IIW 2026 Joint Intermediate Meeting of Commission II & IX

Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittichai Sojiphan and TGGS hosted the International Event of the International Institute of Welding (IIW), namely the Joint Intermediate Meeting of Commission II and Commission IX of IIW at TGGS, KMUTNB, during March 16-18, 2026. The International Institute of Welding (IIW) is an international association focused on the exchange of knowledge in the field of welding and allied technologies, with members from over 53 countries around the world representing the sectors of welding and allied processes. This meeting was co-organized by the Welding Institute of Thailand and TWI Training & Services Co., Ltd. More than 40 on-site and 20 online participants from 15 different countries (the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, Austria, Japan, Germany, Sweden, the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China, the Netherlands, Norway, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Thailand) attended this meeting at Aachen Room, TGGS Building. IIW Commission II: Arc Welding and Filler Metals is chaired by Dr. Zhuyao Zhang from the United Kingdom and has more than 500 members, while Commission IX: Behavior of Metals Subject to Welding is chaired by Dr. Hee Jin Kim from the Republic of Korea and has more than 400 members. More than 40 technical documents were presented and discussed during this meeting. This meeting has increased visibility of TGGS to the global network through TGGS’s vision to be a National Frontier Engineering Graduate School with a strong orientation to industry and international collaboration. Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittichai Sojiphan is a faculty member in the Materials and Production Engineering Program and has more than 10 years of experience in academic teaching, training, and research in the field of welding, materials joining, and additive manufacturing technology. He also holds an International Welding Engineer (IWE) diploma and was a former chair of IIW Young Professional and a former member of IIW Technical Management Board.
