**Advisory Board of the Welding Institute of Thailand (WIT) Congratulates New Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT)**

The Advisory Board of the Welding Institute of Thailand (WIT), led by Associate Professor Dr. Panarit Settekool, Chief Executive Officer of WIT, along with Dr. Sompong Methasitthak, Dr. Winai Sarasuwan, Mr. Chamni Mosagul, Associate Professor Yukol Chulauppai, Associate Professor Dr. Peerawat Nantavara, and Mr. Manusak Ruekpanee, recently visited and extended their congratulations to Mr. Thepparat Theppitak on his appointment as the 16th Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), following approval by the Cabinet on March 3, 2024.

Mr. Thepparat Theppitak holds the distinction of being among the first cohort to receive the International Welding Engineer (IWE) Diploma in 1997. This program was a collaborative effort between King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) and the Welding Technology Training and Research Institute, SLV Mannheim, under the German Welding Society (DVS).

During this visit, discussions also took place concerning various topics related to the development of welding professionals in Thailand and the Mekong region, focusing on the following:

1. The operation of the Welding Development and International Welder Certification Center (WDIC) at EGAT, certified by WIT as an International Welder (IW) training center.

2. The promotion and development of welding education at the International Welder level for students and faculty of KMUTNB, with training opportunities at WDIC.

3. Collaboration to enhance the qualifications of EGAT personnel at various professional levels, along with ongoing research collaboration in areas such as thermal spraying, conducted by EGAT, WIT, and KMUTNB.

4. The international development of welding personnel for Electricité du Laos (EDL), through initial discussions between EGAT, EDL, and WIT, aimed at ensuring energy security in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
